BMX racing has begun at Port Angeles and we have 4 Port Townsend riders who participate regularly: Elijah (10I) and Avery Biskup (8I) and Jasper (10N) and Kai (5N - soon to be intermediate) Spafford.
We would love to get more people from Jefferson County out to Port Angeles for some racing. It only takes 1 hour to get to the Port Angeles track, and it is a great way to get excited about building the race track at H.J. Carroll Park.
Here are some photos of the boys racing at PABMX this season.

We need DIRT!
In order to continue working on getting Chimacum BMX to be an ABA-sanctioned racing track, we need dirt. There is already a small track out at H.J. Carroll park and we will use the dirt that is already there, but we need an additional 2,000 YARDS of dirt on top of that.
If you have any information on where we can acquire some dirt, please email us.
Thanks!

Progress Report

We have started meeting with the County Rec Department and some of the people who will be involved in designing the part of H.J Carroll Park where the BMX track will be.
Here is a picture of what the site looks like currently. It is our hope that we will be able to build the track and be ready for racing beginning April or May 2008.
If you are interested in volunteering to help create and run the track or would like to donate any of the following items, please email us.
Some of the things we will need:
- Dirt
- PC Laptop (for creating motos)
- Printer
- Office supplies (e.g. pens, pencils, printing paper, paper plates, staples, tape, etc.)
- Track maintenance tools (e.g. brooms, hose, shovels, etc.)
- Wood for building registration shack
- A big sign for the track and a sandwich board to put out on highway
- Sponsors for team jerseys and race trophies, etc.
Thanks!

What is BMX?
Our next job is to start educating the local population of Jefferson County, including the residetns of Port Townsend, Port Hadlock, Chimacum and all around, about BMX racing.
We have many ways to do that:
- Website - www.chimacumbmx.com
- Getting people out to H.J. Carroll Park to ride the existing practice track and help us vision the future track.
- Let people know they can race free their first time at the Port Angeles BMX track.
- Flyers, word-of-mouth, gatherings, bike rallies at the track, etc.

If you have time and energy to devote to helping build and run this track or if you just want to donate some money, please email us.

Let's Get Started
Matt Tyler of the Jefferson County Rec Department has informed me that they have received a grant with $4,000 earmarked for making a new BMX track at H.J. Carroll Park. Now the fun begins!
We need to raise a matching $4,000 and get some volunteers to help with various tasks.
We will now be incorporating as a nonprofit and begin the education/promotion/raising funds campaign. If you would like to participate, please contact me at lmbiskup@mac.com.
We need to:
1. Raise $4,000 in matching funds
2. Create a site plan
3. Design and build the track
4. Purchase all necessary equipment, etc. (e.g. starting gate, trophies, etc.)
5. Educate the public and get people interested in supporting BMX in Chimacum (everyone is welcome)
Will you help us? Let us know! Thanks!

Chimacum BMX - Getting closer
I spoke with Matt Tyler of the Jefferson County Rec Department yesterday and he is hopeful that they will be receiving a grant that will kick in about $4,000 towards creating a new and improved BMX track out at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum. If you are interested in helping make this dream a reality for the families of Jefferson County, please email me and we will begin organizing our efforts once again.
Some of the things that need to be done are:
1. Design the track and the surrounding landscape
2. Raise money for a gate
3. Get volunteers to help run the track
